Mid Week Break - The Slieve Russell Hotel

Hey Ladies,

For my birthday I was given a two night b&b stay for the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan. As it is my favourite Hotel I thought I'd share my experience with all of you lovelies as I really think it's a gem for a wee get away. Even though my home house is literally down the road from it, I still love it. I've been to countless weddings and functions here and I actually used to work here and through all of it I still class it as the best Hotel I've ever been in Ireland.

I've stayed here a few times over the years but this time around it was just so special and I honestly had a ball. Our stay included a two night stay in a Deluxe Double room with Breakfast each morning and one evening meal.

When we checked in we actually were kindly given an upgrade to a Superior Suite and the room was just fab. It had a balcony with floor to ceiling views of the golf course and grounds. The weather was horrible but looking out at it was just so peaceful and I felt so cosy in our lovely fluffy dressing gowns and slippers! There was some nice details in our room, like chocolates and the products in the bathroom were all Elemis. The room itself had a HUGE bed, a mini bar, flat screen tv,  a nice sitting area to look out at the view a work desk, Jacuzzi bath and all the other essentials. Our room was so nice all we wanted to do was just chill there but I had other plans!!

The day of my birthday we had booked in to the Ciuin Spa for a package deal which included the use of the Hydrotherepy Suite (sooooo amazing!!!!!) a full body massage and a facial. I can't remember what package I went for but ask for Helen she was my therapist and she was amazing!! All the products are Elemis and each treatment is specifically designed to relax and nourish the body. I played dumb and pretended I hadn't a clue about any beauty products etc just to see her response (because sometimes they really fill you with shite) and she really knew her stuff and she was also lovely! Anyone who visits this hotel definitely book yourself a treatment, it truly is a hidden gem of the Hotel. The Hydrotherapy suite is so amazing it contains;

  • Steam Room
  • Herb Sauna
  • Jacuzzi
  • Adventure Showers
  • Foot Spas
  • Salt Grotto
  • Ice Fountain

  • I felt like I was in a Moroccan or Turkish Spa! We had the whole place to ourselves and it was just to fab to describe! After our treatments we had a wee lie down in the relaxation suite I actually dosed off for an hour that's how relaxed I was!

    There's two main restaurants, The Setanta which is modern style and the Conall Cearnach which has more of a traditional menu. Both are equally as nice, if you like steak make sure to order it!! Man Vs Food is not the word!! There's also a restaurant in the country club, bar food and food served in the foyer so something for everyone. Breakfast is a mix of continental and a good aul fry up. The range of food is great because if your on a healthy buzz you can have your green teas and fruit but if your dying of a hangover you have your fry up!

    The Hotel itself is really family oriented there's a kids club, games room, swimming pool and also a soft play area for wee babas. The grounds of the Hotel are equally as gorgeous, there's the golf course which have paths leading to a lake, there's also tennis courts a mini crazy golf, a nine hole par 3 (get me with my golf lingo! Conor just told me that there but I'll take the credit!) and secret gardens.

    We picked a great time of year to go as the Christmas decorations were up and the hotel just looked like something out of a movie. Lazing by the fire with hot chocolate and reading a book was honstley heaven! We went mid week so it was nice and quite. The staff are so friendly and helpful and really do what ever they can to make your experience amazing.  Defiantly a great place to have a relaxing few days.

    Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so special :)

    Thanks for reading,
    BV xx
